Dementia is no longer looking through the eyes of yourself but through the eyes of others. The result is no longer using and developing your own knowledge and skills and memory, but that of others. And thus a deterioration of your own memories, skills and preferences and becoming increasingly dependent on others.
The healthy part of the demented no longer wants this and is protesting. Just like children, adolescents and [young] adults - it is struggling [again or finally] with the struggle between being oneself or finding it again and adjusting it to the wishes/pressure from the environment and the [whether or not troyanian] tyranny of the area.
An environment who
- either does not accept the other person's real character ['you are not like that', I/we do not know you that way, I/we do not want you to become like that],
- or do not respect the [attuning] choices' [I/we do not accept this, you must continue to do what I/we want, I am/we are so used to it'],
- or do not tolerate both.
- Either because it was so nice, because the other 'always did what they wanted and that was so cozy and/or so easy',
- or because they do not want to face how [tyrannically] they have ignored the character and the choices of the other,
- or because they have seen who the other actually was and what choices he or she made, but abused the empathy of the other, and/or the circumstances, and the other, with emotional and economic blackmail and manipulations, bend to their will [tyrannized]. [See examples 'Een vat vol historie', last paragraph p. 151 + p.].
In other words, not the demented but the environment has a problem with what they perceive and remember. They only see what they want to see, only remember what they want to remember. Just want to hear what suits them. Want to keep tuning as they always have done. BECAUSE THE ENVIRONMENT IS SO ACCUSTOMED. Which means, the environment reacts spoiled, a blackmail tool that has always worked.
And that works again, but not in the way they intended. Because the demented person who has experienced the mentally and actively manipulating violence of the 'I am or wants to be better than you' fight before and has never properly processed and solved this, has - due to the brain damage that this fight has produced - not enough manageable energy anymore, to withstand the mass violence from the pampered-dictatorial responding environment and, with the leftover common sense and ability that he or she still has at his or her disposal, retraces in his or her own way.
The environment gets its way. The demented person knows, can and does no more than that he or she can and the environment likes and suits. May the environment play the AMAZING GREATNESS, the dementia says yes and amen.
At least ... as long as the demented person has not saved up enough energy to repair brain damage in such a way that healthy action can be taken against a narcissistic environment that cannot say no to its own unreasonableness and shortcomings and continues to worship itself militantly, because they just want to know, see and recognize what they like .... They are mirrored in their own way with: 'I don't know anything about that', I only see what I like, so ..... I don't know you and/or you'.
Great hey. Those who play narcissistic can expect a narcissistic mirror from those who no longer have enough controllable energy to show their own face. Will be both the environment as well as the demented served according to their wishes. That was after all the intention, wasn't it?
Summarised:
According to my vision/hypothesis, dementia is an assertiveness problem towards a family/group that can be traced back to youth and/or later experiences.
